`CASE NO 18/9` ANOTHER BORROWED SUBJECT

Another borrowed subject to Kannada cinema from Tamil film ‘Vazhakku En 18/9’. That too from Kannada activists is the question that did lot of discussion at the media briefing on Thursday afternoon.

Kannada activist Praveen Kumar Shetty did not completely support his borrowing but said it is because of insistence of the subject – that is applicable to all places in India, I have made this attempt. When it was a remake I rejected the offer. Only on the subject of the Tamil film I went ahead with some new thoughts of tapping unsung talent in Kannada cinema he says.

According to Shivanand Shetty the subject is so apt for the present generation. There is not only entertainment but a strong message. We have adapted to the culture of our state he says.

VK Mohan a strong supporter of films from behind is now in the front to produce the film as one of the producers. It was Niranjan actor of this film who brought this film and told about the significance. We had to keep this English title because there are some words that have part and parcel says Mohan.

Kanthi Shetty is fourth producer of this film has the background of TV serial ‘Cheluvi’ experience as producer.

Director of films like ‘Murali Meets Meera’, ‘Bhadra’ Mahesh Rao says it is a well made script that was even picked for nomination to Oscar. I am glad that Kannada version I am making. We have included artists for comedy track such as Karthik Sharma and Tabla Nani he stated. Raju Belegere is debut dialogue writer. Five songs are from music director Arjun Janya and one of them from the original tracks says Rao.

Niranjan who once declared that ‘Katari Veera Sura Sundarangi’ is his story is in this remake film losing 10 kilograms of weight. Niranjan went to actual slums to get the feel for his role. Shwetha Pandit relates herself to the role she is playing in the film. Karthik Sharma returns to acting after four years. He has spent four years in professional assignments.
